Miami Means Business: Inside the Miami Business Club

In a city built on ambition, Miami Business Club is proving that sometimes the most valuable

thing in the room isn't the deal. It's the person you're about to meet.

Miami has never exactly been a city known for thinking small.

The cars are faster. The dinners start later. The real estate reaches higher. And somewhere between a morning cafecito in Brickell and cocktails overlooking Biscayne Bay, somebody is launching a company, raising capital, making an introduction or casually mentioning an idea that could become the next very big thing.

Welcome to doing business in Miami. But as Miami has evolved into an increasingly global destination for entrepreneurs, investors and executives, another challenge has emerged: How do you actually meet the right people?

Because having 3,000 LinkedIn connections is one thing.

Having someone answer your call when you say, "I have an idea..." is another.

That's where Miami Business Club comes in.

Forget Networking. Let's Talk About Connection.

Founded in 2020, Miami Business Club was created to bring together entrepreneurs, investors, business professionals, companies and community leaders while helping cultivate something increasingly valuable in a rapidly growing city: genuine relationships.

The nonprofit organization has developed into a community of more than 800 members, bringing people together through networking events, conversations, partnerships and experiences designed to create opportunities across South Florida.

But here's where things get interesting. Miami Business Club isn't simply about walking into a ballroom, attaching a name tag to your blazer and collecting as many business cards as humanly possible before the open bar closes.

The bigger idea is community.

It's creating a room where the entrepreneur can meet the investor. The newcomer can meet the longtime Miami business leader. The person with an idea can meet the person who knows exactly who they should talk to next. And sometimes, the most important conversation of the night isn't the one you planned on having.

Meet the Man Behind the Club: Stefan Lingmerth

To understand Miami Business Club, it helps to understand its founder, Stefan Lingmerth.

Before becoming a familiar face within Miami's business community, Lingmerth spent nearly two decades working in the New York hedge-fund world. In 2020, he traded New York for Miami and entered a very different chapter of his career. He founded Sunshine Kapital, a Florida-registered investment advisory firm focused on undervalued stocks, drawing upon more than 20 years of investment experience.

But investing wasn't the only thing he began building in Miami.

Lingmerth saw an opportunity to bring people together. Miami Business Club was born in 2020, co-founded by Lingmerth and Nick Diaz, with a mission centered around attracting talent, developing professional relationships and creating opportunities within Miami's growing business ecosystem.

And perhaps that explains why MBC feels less like traditional networking and more like the Miami version of a business community. For Lingmerth, relationships aren't an accessory to business.

They're part of the business.

Because Who You Know Still Matters

We live in an era where practically anyone can send a LinkedIn request, slide into a DM or schedule a Zoom meeting.

And yet, somehow, being in the right room still matters.

Maybe more than ever.

Miami Business Club creates those rooms.

Its gatherings have brought together entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, residents and civic leaders for conversations ranging from business growth to the future of Miami itself. Lingmerth has moderated discussions alongside local leaders, including Miami Beach officials, while MBC events have explored issues affecting the broader community.

That's an important distinction.

This isn't only about What can you do for my business?

It's also about:

What can we build in Miami?

The organization works with municipalities, chambers, corporations and charitable organizations to strengthen connections across South Florida's business ecosystem.

And as Miami continues attracting founders, investors, financial firms, technology companies and internationally connected professionals, those relationships become increasingly valuable.

Business, But Make It Miami

Of course, this is Miami.

So nobody said building your professional network had to happen under fluorescent conference-room lighting with lukewarm coffee.

MBC has leaned into the social side of doing business here, bringing members together at restaurants and venues around the city for events where conversation happens a little more naturally.

One gathering at Paya Miami Beach attracted more than 150 members. Another MBC event exploring the future of Lincoln Road combined networking with conversations involving Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner, Commissioner Joseph Magazine and Lincoln Road Business Improvement District President Lyle Stern.

The idea is refreshingly simple: Get interesting people together. Give them something interesting to talk about. See what happens.

Because some of Miami's best opportunities probably won't begin with "Dear Sir or Madam..."

They're going to begin with: "You two need to meet."

And Now, They're Going Black Tie

If Miami Business Club has spent the past several years building the room, this fall it's preparing to dress it up. Very up.

On October 10, 2026, Miami Business Club will host its First Annual Gala at the Miami Beach Convention Center, bringing together business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals from across South Florida for a black-tie celebration centered around connection, leadership and the people helping shape the city.

And yes, this is Miami, so we're expecting considerably more glamour than your average networking mixer. The evening will also include a silent auction benefiting Miami Waterkeeper, adding a philanthropic component supporting the protection of South Florida's waterways.

Think business meets black tie. Connections meet celebration. And probably a few conversations that start over cocktails and end with, "Call me Monday."

Miami Vibes × Miami Business Club

That's also why Miami Vibes Magazine is excited to partner with Miami Business Club as we tell the

stories behind the people, businesses and ideas helping shape the next chapter of Miami.

Because there is another side to business that doesn't always make it into earnings reports or LinkedIn announcements.

There are personalities. There are risks. There are spectacular failures nobody posts about.

There are chance introductions. There are mentors.

There are people who moved to Miami knowing practically no one and eventually built entire communities around them.

And those are the stories we want to tell. Through our partnership with Miami Business Club, we'll go beyond what Miami's business community is building and get to know who is building it, why they're doing it and

what happens when the right people find themselves in the same room.

After all, Miami has plenty of ambition.

Now it has a club bringing some of that ambition together.

And something tells us the conversations are just getting started.
