Lissette Calderon’s Neology Development

Lissette Calderon’s Neology Development Celebrates 21 Years of Business and Reinvigorating Miami’s Neighborhoods

With a $2 billion real estate portfolio, two new residential towers in Allapattah nearing completion, and entitlements to build a new, 1,250-unit mixed-use community on the west bank of the Miami River near the future Miami soccer stadium, Neology celebrated its two-decade (plus one, thanks to the pandemic) milestone last week during a private celebration at Casa Florida – just steps from the developer’s first condo project, Neo Lofts, on the Miami River.

More than 100 guests including family, friends, team members, design/building partners, public officials, and investors, attended the celebration at the tropical-themed vintage Florida cocktail house, part of the Selina Miami hotel.

During the festivities, Jason T. Smith, Director of Equity and Engagement in the Office of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, presented Calderon with a Certificate of Appreciation commemorating her contributions to Miami. “From our Mayor as well as the Board of County Commissioners, happy birthday to Neology and to Lissette for being a true visionary,” said Smith. Calderon thanked everyone who had believed in her vision, even before she had an established track record, and took risks in helping her achieve it. “All of you, in ways both big and small, have been instrumental to Neology’s success,” she said.

“You have shared in our vision, accomplishments, and when necessary, challenges too – so from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for being part of this amazing journey with us.”

Other speakers included Ralph Calderon, Executive Vice President & Director of Development at Neology, Jess Lawhorn, a financial professional who secured financing for Neology’s first condo project in 2002, and Mia Albelo, Lissette Calderon’s daughter.

Calderon’s career in real estate development began in May 2002 when Lissette, just 28 years old, broke ground on the 199-unit NeoLofts, the first modern condo and loft building on the Miami River. She proceeded to develop several more condos on the Miami River – the 443-unit Neo Vertika and the 489-unit Wind by Neo – culminating in 2019 with her renovation and revival of Pier 19 Residences & Marina.

Credited with sparking the Miami River’s renaissance, Calderon recently set her sights on another historic Miami neighborhood: Allapattah. Neology completed the 192-unit No. 17 Residences Allapattah in 2021 and broke ground on The Julia, a 323-unit mixed use apartment and retail project named after Miami’s founding mother Julia Tuttle, in late 2021. In September of 2022, Neology broke ground on its third Allapattah project, Fourteen Allapattah Residences that will deliver 237 apartments and retail when completed in 2024. By delivering nearly 1,000 new apartments, Neology will be one of the largest residential landlords in Allapattah. More recently, Neology purchased a 7.3-acre development site in the Palmer Lake neighborhood of Grapeland Heights, on the west bank of the Miami River close to the future Miami Freedom Park soccer stadium and Miami International Airport, where it is in the permitting phase to build a new, 1,250-unit mixed-use three tower residential community once again transforming a mostly industrial area into a quintessential Miami neighborhood. Neology is also under contract in development projects elsewhere in South Florida and beyond as well.
