Disney On Ice Is Rolling Out the Red Carpet in South Florida — and Yes, the Villains Are Invited
Mickey, Minnie, Stitch, Moana, Disney villains and a little High School Musical nostalgia
are taking over Amerant Bank Arena September 10–13.
South Florida, clear your September calendar; Disney is putting everyone on the guest list.
And apparently, the dress code is red-carpet fabulous with a side of childhood nostalgia.
Disney On Ice presents Spotlight Magic! is skating into Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise from September 10–13, 2026, bringing more than 30 Disney characters, aerial acrobatics, massive production numbers, Disney Channel throwbacks and enough sparkle to make even Tinker Bell slightly jealous.
But this isn't simply another trip around the ice with Mickey and friends. This time, Disney is
throwing a full-blown Hollywood-inspired celebration.
Mickey Is Hosting. Obviously.
Every fabulous party needs a host, or five.
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy are officially running the show as Spotlight Magic!moves through some of Disney's most recognizable worlds.
Think of it as the ultimate Disney guest list. There are princesses.
There are heroes.
There are sidekicks.
There are villains.
And then there's Stitch.
Honestly, what could possibly go wrong?
The production brings together characters and stories from Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, Toy Story, Moana, Monsters, Inc., Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia 2, while introducing several characters to Disney On Ice audiences for the very first time.
New Characters Have Entered the Chat
One of the biggest additions comes straight from Zootopia 2. Gazelle and Gary De’Snake make their Disney On Ice debuts alongside Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde in an all-new adventure. But Stitch fans may have an even bigger reason to celebrate.
Angel is making her highly anticipated North American Disney On Ice debut. And apparently, simply skating onto the ice wasn't dramatic enough. Angel makes her entrance soaring above the arena on a sparkling chandelier before eventually reuniting with Stitch on the ice.
As entrances go, that's difficult to beat.
The Villains Finally Get Their Moment
For anyone who secretly thinks Disney villains have always had the better outfits, better entrances and considerably more interesting personalities, Spotlight Magic! has something for you, too.
For the first time, the production includes a special showcase dedicated to some of Disney's most iconic troublemakers.
Maleficent. Ursula. Gaston. The Evil Queen. They're all getting their moment under the spotlight. Because apparently even villains deserve a red carpet. The result adds a slightly mischievous twist to the traditional Disney experience, and gives the grown-ups in the audience another reason to pay attention.
Millennials, Disney Has Not Forgotten About You
Here's where things get dangerously nostalgic.
The soundtrack doesn't stop with classic Disney songs.
Spotlight Magic! reaches directly into the Disney Channel vault with music including “Pumpin' Up the Party” from Hannah Montana, “A Night to Remember” from High School Musical 3: Senior Year and “Good to Be Bad” from Descendants 3.
In other words, parents may arrive claiming they're bringing the kids and suddenly find themselves singing every word.
No judgment.
Those tracks join Disney classics including “You've Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story, “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, “I've Got a Dream” from Tangled and “I Am Moana” from Moana.
It's part Broadway spectacle, part Disney concert, part skating show and part extremely elaborate trip down memory lane.
And Then There's the Chandelier…
Disney isn't exactly known for doing things halfway.
Beyond the world-class figure skating, Spotlight Magic! incorporates aerial acrobatics, LED technology, immersive lighting effects and a kinetic chandelier constructed from 64 glowing light bars. At different points, shimmering lanterns illuminate the arena while performers take the spectacle above the ice. There's even a moving camera boom carrying performers through the production as spotlights sweep across the arena.
Translation: this is not the Disney On Ice you remember from childhood. It's bigger, brighter and considerably more cinematic.
Consider This Permission to Dress Up
The experience doesn't begin when the first skater hits the ice. Guests are encouraged to dress to impress, walk the red carpet and show off a little star power before the performance and again during intermission. So yes, this may finally be the appropriate occasion for your child to leave the house wearing a princess gown, Mickey ears, sparkles and light-up shoes simultaneously. Actually, we take that back. There was never an inappropriate occasion.
Want to Make It Extra Magical?
For families looking to turn the evening into a bigger experience, the new Magical Pass includes premium seating, a pre-show visit with a special Disney character and a collectible lanyard. The character greeting begins 45 minutes before showtime and ends 15 minutes before the performance. Everyone ages two and older attending the experience needs their own Magical Pass ticket, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Translation for parents: arrive early.
You do not want to be explaining from the Amerant Bank Arena parking lot why everyone missed their special Disney meet-and-greet.
