Emerging Hip Hop/RnB Foursome Barely Legal Announce Third Album Barely Legal Tapes Vol 2 out July 2023
Tampa-based hip hop and R&B group, Barely Legal, is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated third album, Barely Legal Tapes Vol 2, set to release this month. The 18-track collection showcases a seamless blend of rap, beats, trap, RnB songs, and interludes, all co-written by the group's four young artists who have already amassed a growing national fanbase
and over 4.6 million streams over the past three years.
After coming together in 2019 when rappers Kid Dre, Chowder Band$, and Jø, along with singer Miquel Morales, connected through mutual friends, the quartet wasted no time in spinning out new innovative tracks and landing several high-profile live shows, drawing audiences from 200-700+. They have also had multiple performances at the Rolling Loud Festival, which Billboard Magazine has called "the be-all of hip-hop festivals."
The group achieved immense success with their debut album, Barely Legal Tapes Vol.1, which they immediately followed up with their second album, CYBR, and a 3-track EP Daytona, all of which attracted over 4.6 million streams and over 780,000 monthly listeners.
With their upcoming album, Barely Legal Tapes Vol 2, the group showcases their growth as artists and individuals. The 18 tracks range from somber pop (“Killing All the Fun”) to a rap song about chasing your dreams (“Solomon”) to a high tempo rap song with a catchy Pharrell-like hook (“Watch Ya Head”) to a colorful braggadocious Hip-Hop song (“Himothy”).
Mixing the new album is Matt Wolches, known for his work with renowned artists such as Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, and Muse. The album also features the expertise of producers BMTJ from South Korea, Stoic from New York, and multi-platinum record producer Major 7, who has worked with Jay-Z, Future, Rihanna, and DJ Khaled.
