Dubai’s dining scene moves fast, but every so often, a concept appears that feels instantly memorable. Enter 852 Bakery Dubai, the late-night bakery concept tucked inside Jun’s on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. Equal parts comfort food and culinary creativity, the bakery has quickly become one of the most talked-about

casual dining stops in Downtown Dubai.

Created by chef Kelvin Cheung, the culinary mind behind the acclaimed restaurants Jun’s, Little Jun’s and Jooksing, the bakery reflects his signature style: nostalgic flavours elevated through technique and attention to detail. Rather than chasing trends, 852 Bakery leans into heritage, blending Hong Kong café culture with contemporary comfort food.

A Late-Night Bakery With Personality

What makes 852 Bakery stand out is its intention. Everything is made in-house, and that philosophy shows in every bite. Sourdough breads, bagels, pickles, and even kimchi are prepared from scratch daily. Instead of a typical pastry counter, the menu reads like a chef’s notebook of comfort foods reimagined.

The bakery continues to expand its offerings with thoughtful additions designed to feel both indulgent and familiar. Each new item builds on a foundation of technique, balance, and playful storytelling.

The star newcomer is the Grilled and Dangerous sandwich. Made with house-prepared pastrami layered onto freshly baked bread, it’s rich, savoury and unapologetically satisfying, the kind of sandwich that instantly earns repeat orders.

Another standout is the Gluten-Free Southside Parm. Inspired by the classic chicken parmesan and named after the Chicago neighbourhood where Cheung spent his teenage years, the sandwich merges nostalgia with accessibility. Crisp gluten-free fried chicken sits on garlic-butter toasted gluten-free bread and is topped with mapo arrabbiata sauce and melted mozzarella and parmesan. It delivers the comforting familiarity of a traditional parm, without sacrificing texture or flavour for dietary restrictions.

Meanwhile, The Hulk keeps things lighter but equally flavourful, pairing grilled chicken with pesto and mozzarella inside a soft, house-made bagel.

The Famous Pineapple Bun

No visit to 852 Bakery Dubai is complete without its signature Hong Kong Pineapple Bun.

Despite the name, the bun contains no pineapple at all. Instead, it gets its title from the crackled golden topping that resembles pineapple skin. Served warm with a slab of cold salted butter, the butter gently melts into the fluffy interior creating a perfect sweet-salty balance.

Many guests pair it with Hong Kong milk tea, and locals swear the proper way to enjoy it is dipping the bun directly into the tea. As Chef Cheung himself says, there’s no wrong way to eat one.

Comfort Food Meets Craft

Beyond sandwiches and buns, the bakery’s commitment to craftsmanship appears in the details. Fresh pies rotate every weekend, while weekly sandwich specials ensure regular guests always have something new to try.

The menu feels approachable rather than pretentious. You’ll recognize the flavours immediately, but the execution elevates them. This is food designed for enjoyment first — technique second — yet both are present in every dish.

In a city known for luxury dining, 852 Bakery represents a different kind of indulgence: accessible, nostalgic, and genuinely craveable.

Why It Matters to Dubai’s Food Scene

Dubai has no shortage of restaurants, but concepts with personality are rarer. 852 Bakery Dubai succeeds because it doesn’t try to be overly polished. Instead, it focuses on flavour, memory, and storytelling, something increasingly important in modern dining.

The rise of late-night casual dining also plays a role. Located in Downtown Dubai, the bakery has become a popular after-dinner stop for residents and visitors alike. Whether you’re coming from a show, a walk around the Boulevard, or simply craving a midnight snack, it fills a gap between cafés and fine dining.

It’s the kind of place you visit once out of curiosity, and return to because you suddenly have a favourite order.

Location: Jun’s, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai

Hours: Monday – Friday: 5:30 PM – 12:00 AM

Saturday – Sunday: 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM

852 Bakery proves that sometimes the most memorable dining experiences aren’t the fanciest ones. They’re the places where food feels personal, comforting, and just a little bit surprising — a warm bun, melting butter, and flavours that make you pause for a moment before the next bite.
