How to Get "to Die For" Skin
Words / Ariana Peralta @ariana_peralta
As a lifestyle blogger and skincare junkie, I’m constantly trying new products and finding new ways to care for my skin. I always stick to the basics like drinking plenty of water and wearing SPF, however, I wanted to share 5 simple but unique tips that you might not have heard of before that work as well as the tried and true.
Cleanse the right way
Cleansing your skin properly is more than a one-step wipe. You can definitely invest on tools like a Clarisonic, but if they aren’t on your budget, stick to a solid skincare routine. In order to get the best cleanse without splurging, you have to implement different steps, especially if you had on a full face of makeup. I personally like to start with a wipe to remove the top layer of makeup. Second, I use an eye-makeup remover and then I wash my face with Korres Greek yogurt cleanser, it has been my favorite for some months now, it gets the job done but it’s not harsh. Lastly, I use toner on a cotton to make sure there is no residue left. Cleansing the right way has been a game changer for me.
Collagen supplements
Collagen is extremely important for a youthful complexion. We lose collagen as we age, so adding it to my diet has really aided my skin. If you are thinking of adding collagen, ask your doctor first and go for a brand that fits your diet. I highly recommend it and don’t forget prevention is key.
Moisturize always
I always tell anyone who asks me what to do so that their foundation looks flawless, and my response is always the same, make sure your skin is moisturized. Even if you have oily skin, don’t skip on moisturizing. If you find yourself getting really oily, consider adding an oil. It might sound crazy but it’s proven that when your skin isn’t hydrated enough it will overproduce oil. Make sure you get the right moisturizer for your skin type and you will see an improvement.
Facial toners?
Facial toners, do they work, are they for you? The answer for me is: Yes, but find the right one. I’ve been using the Kopari Rose water facial toner and it’s my go-to. It brings back some moisture after I cleanse, it refreshes my skin throughout the day and it acts as a setting spray. I don’t think you need 5 different toners but I do think you need one that can act do multiple things.
Detox
Last but not least, work on your diet and detox when you know you’ve been eating a little too much sugar and/or processed food. What goes in your body will show outside. I eat a 80% organic diet and cut back on sugary foods when my skin gets congested. I also like to drink a detox tea after dinner and green juices. Take care of your body inside out and you will be glowing!
