Miami Winter Art Exhibitions Heat Up with LaChapelle & More

Miami may not do snow, but when it comes to culture, the city absolutely knows how to bring the heat. This season, Miami winter art exhibitions are delivering bold visuals, thought-provoking storytelling, and serious wow factor—from celebrity-packed photography to quantum-inspired painting and surreal color-driven works. Whether you’re an art collector, a gallery-hopper, or just looking for something visually stimulating to do between brunch and beach time, two standout exhibitions deserve a spot on your winter must-see list.

Now on view: David LaChapelle’s “Vanishing Act” at VISU Contemporary in Miami Beach and Lina Cerrone Gallery’s dynamic winter program in Wynwood. Together, they offer two very different—but equally compelling—ways to experience the pulse of contemporary

art in Miami right now.

Miami Winter Art Exhibitions Spotlight David

LaChapelle at VISU Contemporary

VISU Contemporary in Miami Beach is currently hosting Vanishing Act, an expansive exhibition featuring more than 30 works by iconic photographer David LaChapelle, including nine world-premiere pieces. On view now through February 1, the exhibition is curated by VISU founder Bruce Halpryn and spans LaChapelle’s four-decade career, pairing recognizable visual drama with striking new works that feel especially timely.

LaChapelle is known for turning celebrity photography into cultural commentary, but Vanishing Act goes deeper—exploring environmental tension, cultural acceleration, and the spiritual undertones of modern life. One of the exhibition’s major highlights is the debut of Will the World End in Fire, Will the World End in Ice (2025), a cinematic continuation of LaChapelle’s long-running exploration of the relationship between nature and civilization. It’s bold, emotional, and impossible to look away from.

Also making waves are new additions to LaChapelle’s Negative Currency series (1990–2025), where banknotes from Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea are transformed into glowing, symbolic works that question value, power, and global systems. Other standout pieces include Tower of Babel (2024), selections from Earth Laughs in Flowers, and reimagined sacred tableaus that blend beauty with crisis and transcendence.

As one of only two galleries representing LaChapelle in the Americas, VISU Contemporary offers an intimate, gallery-first experience—allowing visitors to engage closely with this rare and powerful body of work.

Wynwood Energy Meets Innovation at

Lina Cerrone Gallery

Over in Wynwood, Lina Cerrone Gallery is delivering a winter double-feature that blends global innovation with Miami-grown creativity. Now through February, the gallery presents two complementary exhibitions from French artist Véronique Barrillot and Miami-based artist Patrick Penkwitt—each offering a completely different visual language,

yet perfectly balanced together.

Barrillot, a self-taught pioneer of quantum painting, introduces works that merge physics and art through her signature double-vision technique. Her paintings exist in two superimposed states on a single canvas, shifting as the viewer moves—echoing concepts of superposition and entanglement. The result is an interactive experience where perception itself becomes part of the artwork. These pieces don’t just hang on the wall; they respond to you.

Meanwhile, Patrick Penkwitt’s Oh What Beautiful Flowers brings color, imagination, and narrative into the mix. Originally rooted in photography and extreme sports imagery, Penkwitt now creates one-of-a-kind paintings using an intuitive pendulum-drawing method. His works are vibrant, surreal, and playful—layered with storytelling that feels dreamlike yet emotionally grounded.

Together, Barrillot and Penkwitt showcase Lina Cerrone Gallery’s commitment to both international artistic innovation and local creative evolution—making this winter pairing a must-see for collectors and culture lovers alike.

From the cinematic intensity of David LaChapelle’s world-premiere works to the perceptual experimentation and bold storytelling unfolding in Wynwood, Miami winter art exhibitions are proving that the city’s creative energy doesn’t slow down when the temperatures dip.

Whether you’re drawn to celebrity-charged photography, conceptual explorations of science and perception, or expressive, color-driven narratives, these exhibitions offer a refreshing reminder of why Miami remains a global art destination—season after season.

Consider this your official sign to swap one beach day for a gallery hop. Trust us—it’s worth it.
