Miami Beach Fitness Festival Powered by HYROX (MBFF) took place in March and marked a milestone occasion for transforming the perception of Miami Beach during the spring break months.
The city of Miami Beach partnered with fitness experts and entrepreneurs to host this first-time competition and festival and the results were astounding.
Out of 3,000 attendees over the weekend, 85 came from 15 different countries, making up 11.3% of the total participants. The rest of the attendees were mainly from Florida, with 68% from South Florida, including Miami-Dade County at 46.6%, Broward County at 13.8%, and Palm Beach County at 7%. Florida as a state made up 76% of the participants, showcasing the growing popularity of the fitness industry in the region. MBFF has become an event that brings together individuals from all over the world, demonstrating the power of fitness to unite people and communities.
The festival showcased the growing popularity of HYROX in the US and how it has become one of the next big fitness trends worldwide. As the world's most accessible race designed for everyone, HYROX has over 600 affiliated gyms globally. Since its inception in 2017, HYROX has experienced remarkable growth, from one race with 650 participants to 45 races in 11 countries and an estimated 90,000 participants in 2023. HYROX is the ultimate challenge, a perfect combination of strength, endurance, and determination, inspired by millions of athletes worldwide who consider functional fitness as their sport of choice.
MBFF was not about competition but promoting healthy habits and making them accessible to everyone no matter their fitness level. The festival featured various supporting events hosted in partnership with notable brands, bringing awareness to health and fitness while enhancing the experience of Miami Beach. The festival was part of Miami Beach Live!, a month-long series of health, wellness, fitness, and entertainment events presented by the city of Miami Beach.
Miami is increasingly becoming more health-focused, and MBFF is a great example of this. The festival attracted competitors and guests from all over the world. Some notable members of the community include Breakwater Hospitality Group Co-Founder Emi Guerra, Miami Marathon Founder, Frankie Ruiz, Wodapalooza Co-Founder Steve Suarez, and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.
The success of MBFF has already paved the way for the next HYROX competition set to take place in October 2023 at Miami Beach Convention Center. The competition promises to be even bigger and better, with more participants, more events and more excitement. With the continued growth of HYROX and Miami's focus on health and wellness, MBFF will surely become an annual event that nobody will want to miss.
