Asha Walker is a holistic health coach, and the founder & CEO of
Health in the Hood- a not for profit organization working to end food insecurity
through urban farming and wellness.
A Miami native, Asha is a theater kid turned non profit executive- with a passion for food justice, sustainability and whole person wellness.

She founded Health in the Hood in 2013 after a decade long year career in non profit program operations and community engagement.
She organically combined her love of community work and wellness to create Health in the Hood. She’s spent the last ten years leading her team to feed and educate thousands of food insecure families.
The Health in the Hood method is simple: plant gardens, nourish families, strengthen communities, harvest health.
Asha launched Asha Walker Wellness (AWW), a curated holistic wellness platform in 2020. From meditation & healthy recipes to self care & gut health, AWW is a one stop shop for building healthy habits. Asha’s passion for sharing whole person wellness is translated into to AWW platform, with integrative content slated for 2024.
“We’re are all connected in wellness” says Asha. “When we care about our collective wellness, we can create the ripple effect of health, and change the world. It’s really that simple.”

Asha Walker's approach to community health in the article resonates deeply, especially when she talks about making resources more accessible for everyone. It's something I really appreciate because the impact of accessible healthcare cannot be overstated, particularly in communities that often face barriers to proper care. For those of us considering the well-being of older adults, website like SeniorCareHomes provide valuable resources and support for finding the right care. It’s reassuring to know there are platforms dedicated to simplifying the process of finding trustworthy care homes that meet health needs. I believe such services can make a real difference for individuals and families.
Asha Walker’s approach to community health is inspiring - highlighting the importance of awareness, support, and prevention in everyday neighborhoods. For those facing challenges beyond health education, professional help can make a huge difference. If someone is struggling with substance use, a drug rehab offers a safe, structured environment to regain control, build resilience, and connect with resources that support long-term recovery.
This is such a powerful example of tackling health disparities right at the community level. True wellness starts with being aware. Personally, I faced some unexpected health challenges due to undiagnosed sleep issues. If you’re constantly feeling drained or struggling to concentrate, I recommend checking into sleep apnea treatment - it made a bigger impact on my life than I ever expected, and it could do the same for you!
