How to Stay Healthy & Fit
in Miami
Staying fit in one of the best partying cities in the world can be a bit difficult when you’re gulping down alcohol every weekend and the only exercise you’re getting is dancing at the nightclub. Luckily, Miami has a lot of healthy activities to offer that don’t involve getting drunk or partying at the beach.
Here are some things you can do to stay fit and healthy in Miami:
1 – Go for a walk or a run
Miami is one of the most walkable cities in the US and walking is one of the best ways to explore a city. Even if you’ve been living in Miami since the day you were born, walking will help you discover places you had no idea existed. It’s also a great way to stay fit and healthy. A lot of studies show that walking is even better than lifting weights! One of the best places to walk in Miami is the Miami Beach Boardwalk which begins at Indian Beach Park.
2 – Eat healthy
If you’re tired of eating meat and you feel it’s not helping you feel healthy, you can try eating fresh, local fruits, vegetables and whole grains, hormone-free meat, sustainable Florida seafood, and goat’s milk dairy at Basil Park. The restaurant also offers a juice bar, and sustainable and biodynamic wine.
You can also have lunch or dinner at Della Test Kitchen where they let you customize your meals. You can add avocado, raw roots, marinated kale, ripe plantains, and lots of other healthy stuff to your meal.
3 – Start training!
There are lots of places in Miami that offer exercise classes. Anatomy is a shop where you can take Pilates classes and relax in its infrared sauna and eucalyptus steam room. Anatomy has personal trainers who will help you make a workout routine that will be tailored to your requirements. You can also take group fitness classes.
Spartan Gym is another place where you can take private and group training classes. They have battle ropes, plyo boxes, rowers, and lots of other gym equipment.
4 – Relax at a hotel
Stress can be detrimental to your health. You should get at least 8-9 hours of sleep. Sometimes it can be hard to rest at home if you don’t live alone. Sometimes you just want to relax at a hotel and sleep in a room that looks like it came straight out of a fantasy book. 1 Hotel South Beach has three pools and its own private beach. It also offers food from local farmers and suppliers.
Carillon is another hotel where you can go to catch up on sleep and get away from the noise. The hotel offers over 200 weekly fitness classes and it also has workshops by wellness gurus. It also has a juice bar and a “therapeutic igloo”.
5 – Kayaking
Who knew you could do things other than partying at the beach? Kayaking is a popular activity that you can do in Miami. It’s a low impact activity that can improve strength and flexibility. Crandon Park in Key Biscayne is one of the most popular places in Miami for kayaking and other water sports.
Coral Gables offers a guided kayak tour of Biscayne Bay so if you’re in the mood to learn and be healthy, this is the place to go.
There are plenty of ways to stay fit in Miami. It’s okay to party every now and then, but make sure you don’t neglect your mental and physical health. You wanna make sure you party when you’re old, too, and the only way you can do that is if you exercise and take care of your body now.
