Miami Fashion Week® returned in person after a two-year hiatus, taking over some of Miami's most notable venues and celebrating fashion, art, culture, and technology from May 31 to June 5.

Rene by RR, gatha Ruiz de la Prada, Benito Santos, Angel Sanchez, and, for the first time, Naeem Khan, as well as Italian luxury lifestyle brand Missoni, debuted their latest collections on the MIAFW runway. The events were held at various locations throughout Miami, including the Vizcaya Gardens & Museum, the Gary Nader Art Centre, and the Frost Science Museum.

This year, Miami Fashion Week made its metaverse debut, hosting its first fashion show in Decentraland as well as a panel discussion about the exciting activations surrounding digital fashion, sustainability, art, and culture.

DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS:

Press Conference at the East Hotel Miami

The week kicked off on May 31 with a press conference where Lourdes Fernandez-Velasco, Executive Managing Director for Miami Fashion Week, revealed MIAFW's plans to enter the Metaverse with the launch of "L'ATELIER BY MIAFW." The ground-breaking digital retail and educational concept will bring fashion enthusiasts from around the world together in the Metaverse to learn about sustainability, discover the latest fashion trends, and build a creative community to promote the industry.

Among those in attendance were designer Barbara Hulanicki, fine art collector Gary Nader, Megan Kaspar of the MIAFW Digital Fashion Council, and Miami politicians Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava of Miami-Dade County and Mayor Francis Suarez of Miami.

DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS:

Missoni Show at Vizcaya Gardens & Museum

Missoni brought its iconic style to Miami with a variety of contemporary and vibrant looks from its Women's Summer 2022 ready-to-wear and swimwear collections. T-shirts were casually layered on swimsuits to emphasize the sinuosity and harmony of the female form, while multicolor nets created intriguing shades. While iconic model Nadia Ferreira walked the runway, Marc Anthony and RHOM Guerdy Abraira sat in the front row.

DAY THREE HIGHLIGHTS:

Benito Santos Show at Gary Nader Art Center; Angel Sanchez Show at Gary Nader Art Center

As models walked through the gallery wearing Santos' glitzy creations, guests were wowed by his distinct aesthetic. His creations demonstrated why he is regarded as one of Mexico's most coveted designers and a favorite of South American celebrities. Angel is a Venezuelan architect and designer who is regarded as one of the world's most outstanding designers and a celebrity favorite. His MIAFW style reflected his well-known fondness for highly structured, contemporary, and feminine architectural forms.

DAY FOUR HIGHLIGHTS:

Rene by RR Show at Gary Nader Art Center;

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada Show at Gary Nader Art Center

Rene by RR, which debuted at Miami Fashion Week in 2018, fills a void in the luxury market with a collection that reflects his talent and quality standards and a city and culture that are gaining traction as the next international fashion capital. Guests enjoyed witnessing and being a part of René's brand evolution, which concluded with a standing ovation. Agatha's bold and colorful designs have propelled her to the forefront of national and international design. Guests danced and sang along to Agatha's incredible show, marveling at her meticulously designed pieces as they strutted down the catwalk, accompanied by the most stunning works of art.

DAY FIVE HIGHLIGHTS:

Virtual Decentraland Fashion Show

In Decentraland, MIAFW hosted a virtual fashion show featuring digital fashions from a collaboration between DRESSX and MTA Kollectiff. While staying at 'L'ATELIER by MIAFFW,' guests were able to explore the virtual building and learn about the world of AR fashion.
