The Stronach Group & David Grutman’s Groot Hospitality Partner For The Second Year For North America’s Richest Thoroughbred Horse Race
Belinda Stronach (Chairman and President, The Stronach Group) and Groot Hospitality’s David Grutman announced their continued partnership for the upcoming Pegasus World Cup that will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at The Stronach Group’s South Florida entertainment destination, Gulfstream Park.
The Stronach Group will team up with Groot Hospitality’s LIV for the second year, to offer an entertainment experience unlike any other. The highly anticipated return of the trackside club known as the Pegasus LIV Stretch Village (formerly the Pegasus LIV Boardwalk) will feature race day entertainment, celebrities, VIP hospitality, eclectic programming and post-race A-list performances by award-winning rapper Snoop Dogg and Mark Ronson, the award-winning DJ & Producer who just won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song on January 6, 2019. The Pegasus LIV Stretch Village will showcase a restaurant row offering bites by Komodo, Swan, Bar Bevy and other local eateries. This year’s Pegasus partnership will feature an exclusive Swan & Bar Bevy pop-up in the newly renovated Flamingo Room at Gulfstream Park. The Flamingo Room will be the home of the premier VIP Pegasus World Cup luxury experience, delivering the finest in hospitality and entertainment with panoramic race day views. Guests will be treated to a lavish food and beverage celebration curated by Swan & Bar Bevy, the newest project by David Grutman. Since 2017, the Pegasus World Cup has become one of the premier events on the Thoroughbred horse racing calendar, blending entertainment, innovation and horse racing like no other event of its kind, capturing the attention of the racing industry, celebrities and fans from around the world. The Pegasus World Cup offers innovative culinary and cocktail programs, and an updated approach to fashion, technology and entertainment activations designed to treat guests to a modern day race experience.
At the Pegasus World Cup in January 2018, Pharrell Williams, Lenny Kravitz, Olivia Culpo, Prince Royce, Wilmer Valderrama, Post Malone, Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri, Carson Kressley and DJ Ruckus were among the 12,000 guests to witness Gun Runner win the $16 million USD purse. After the race, at Pegasus LIV Stretch Village, Ludacris and Jermaine surprised guests with an impromptu performance of “Money Ain't Thang” before Post Malone took the stage for a full-scale concert. Guests enjoyed gourmet tastings courtesy of KOMODO, an award-winning contemporary Southeast Asian restaurant located in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood and several other eateries offering elevated race-day bites.

The Pegasus World Cup Championship Invitational Series will offer the richest prize in North American Thoroughbred racing with a $16 million purse split between two Grade 1 stakes races. The Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1), to be run on the turf at 1 3/16 miles, will offer a $7 million purse with $3 million awaiting the winner. The Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1), contested at 1 1/8 mile on the dirt, will offer a $9 million purse with a $4 million prize awarded to the winner of the
twelve-horse field.
Confirmed entrants for the Pegasus World Cup Invitational include 2018 Breeder’s Cup Classic (G1) winner, Accelerate, and the 2018 Breeder’s Cup Classic runner-up, and hometown favorite, Gunnevera along with the 143rd Preakness Stakes (G2) second place finisher, Bravazo, the reigning Florida Derby (G1) champion, Audible, and the undefeated Kukulkan, Mexico’s Triple Crown winner. On the turf, two international fillies, Japan’s Aerolithe and Ireland’s Magic Wand are among the announced entrants who will complete in the inaugural Pegasus World Cup Invitational Turf.
