Flowy & Sexy with an Island Flair

interview / Cybil Bonhomme with Anastasia Pierre

Posted on May 20, 2018   |    | beauty & fashion

Crowned Miss Bahamas Universe 2011, dabbled in modeling work for Sports Illustrated and designers including Christian Audigier and Betsey Johnson, obtained her communication degree from Nova, acted in I Feel Pretty (2018) and Ballers (2015), met and was photographed with England's Prince Harry in 2012, Anastagia Pierre is a force to be reckon with. And in this crazy busy world of hers, Anastagia manages to be a really cool fashionable chic with some pretty chill vibes.

Where are you from?

Well, technically I was raised in the South Florida area and my ethnicity is Haitian-Bahamian! But if we’re being a little less down to earth, I come from place a called Venus! All of the most influential queens and goddesses are from there too! It’s the second planet from the sun, and the brightest object in the sky after the moon. It’s really hot there, even hotter than Miami!

Would you say that your culture has played a role in your sense of fashion?

Definitely! I’m a Caribbean girl at heart, and my island roots always inspire my sense of fashion. I am my most comfortable and confident self in easy breezy looks, like flowy skirts and dresses, coverups, and
sexy swimwear.

Has beauty and fashion always appealed to you?

Absolutely! My love affair with beauty and fashion began at a young age. I remember in 2nd grade, sometimes I would go to school dressed as a cowgirl, a cheerleader or a pirate! My teachers and classmates called them costumes, but I called it fashion! It made going to school more fun, and I loved showing off my unique sense of style and my personality. I was a budding actress and a beauty queen in the making

Were you ever "fashionably awkward.”

Oh of course, and I still am sometimes! But as I gained more self confidence, my sense of style really evolved! I realized that you can literally wear anything you want as long as you wear it gracefully and you believe in it. That’s really all it takes!

Having lived in this city known for its "awesome humidity," what are some skin tips you have for us
ladies as we are approaching summer?

Less is more and a good skincare routine is key! For those hot summer days, a tinted moisturizer with spf, and a good mineral powder is always my go to! Add a little mascara, a glossy lip, and some cream blush for a sun kissed glow. Light and dewy is the vibe all summer for me.

You are known as an internationally recognized model, actress, beauty queen, and spokesperson based in South Florida. Did you always want to be in the spotlight?

Not always but I’ve learned to embrace it! I’m thankful for the opportunity to share what I’m passionate about with my friends, fans, and followers! Not too long ago I would get crippling social anxiety whenever I had to attend or host a major event! Needless to say, the spotlight can be a very scary place. I think it’s important to surround yourself with good people that help you relax, enjoy the beauty around you, and just have a great time living your best life.

What is something that not everyone would know about you?

I share so much of my life on social media, but something not everyone knows about me is that I read a lot. I always have a book with me to break up the hours that I spend looking at my phone. Currently I’m reading What Dreams May Come by Richard Matheson. It’s a story about what happens to us after we die. I’ve read it 5 times already.

You can only pack 5 things. What do you take?

My electric toothbrush, silk pajamas, big sunglasses, snacks, and a lighter... you know, all the essentials for survival.
